WSM Awarded Tompkins County New Tourism Initiatives Grant!

Wharton Studio Era Headphone Walking-Play

On May 1st, 2018, WSM was awarded a New Tourism Initiatives Grant ($5,000) from Tompkins County Tourism Program to develop a Wharton Studio Era Headphone Walking-Play in partnership with The Cherry Artspace. Set against the backdrop of the Wharton Studio era and set in Stewart Park, this new play is being written by playwrights Aoise Stratford and Katie Marks. The Cherry’s Artistic Director Sam Buggeln will direct, and WSM’s Executive Director Diana Riesman will produce the play. If you were lucky enough to see The Cherry’s “Storm Country” in 2016, the new play will be similar in concept. Friends of Stewart Park is a collaborating partner in the project! The play will debut late summer/early fall.

Additionally, WSM also received a Marketing & Advertising Grant ($1,000) from Tompkins County Tourism Program. The project is also supported by Legacy Foundation.

WSM thanks Tompkins County Tourism Program and Legacy Foundation for this tremendous support.
