Southern Tier Student Film Festival for youth in the Southern Tier took place via livestream on June 18th, 2020 and WSM would like to congratulate all the Winners!
1st Place — The Boogeyman by Spencer Strickland and Colin Rauch (Dryden High School)
2nd Place — 9:05 by Elijah Dardano (Ithaca High School)
3rd Place — The Scientist by Sophia Mras (Newfield High School)
Honorable Mention — No. 2 by Olivia Schwoeble (Newfield High School)
Honorable Mention — Dear Diary by Abigail Wall (Newfield High School)
The Audience Choice Award went to Elijah Dardano for his film 9:05. Congratulations, Elijah!
WSM was excited to be able to present Southern Tier Student Film Festival this year given the challenges the pandemic presented in terms of schools closing early on and students not being able to easily work on their films. This year’s film festival went virtual to ensure everyone’s safety and good health while showcasing the five films that were submitted.
The June 18th livestream on WSM’s Facebook Page featured an introduction by Diane Gayeski, Dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College; the screening of the student films, and then the awarding of prizes by the Jury Panel. This year we added an Audience Choice Award!
WSM thanks the Roy H. Park School of Communications at IC for its continuing support of Southern Tier Student Film Festival, the filmmakers, the Jury, and everyone who tuned in to the livestream.
