WSM is pleased to be in contact with the video production program at New Roots Charter School. As a nonprofit education organization with a provisional museum charter from NYS Education Dept.’s Board of Regents, WSM is committed to engaging with students of all ages and welcomes making new community connections. New Roots Charter School’s growing videography program has embraced Ithaca’s past as a film making center and has produced Juneau, its own silent black and white drama. Using the aesthetics of the heyday of silent film exemplified by Wharton Studios, members of the school’s Video1 class wrote, along with support of an intern from Ithaca College’s Park School, shot and edited a short atmospheric and metaphoric drama based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Juneau will screen this coming October during Silent Movie Month.
